Ruby Falls {January 16, 1946 - June 15, 1986}
Ruby Falls has been the most successful black woman country performer to date, with her mellifluous voice taking her to the Billboard country singles chart nine times between 1974 and 1979. Her biggest hits were âYouâve Got To Mend This Heartache,â which peaked at number 40 in 1977 and âIâm Gettingâ Into Your Love,â which peaked at number 56 in 1979. Falls was also nominated as country musicâs Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1975 by country industry trade media. She recorded on the 50 States Records label and also found success in her stage shows. In the late 1970âs, she was touring through the Atlas Artists Bureau with Grand Ole Opry star Justin Tubb. She also performed with such country greats as Faron Young, Jeanne Pruett, Del Reeves, Narvel Felts, and Dave & Sugar. She additionally got significant Nashville area and national promotion on such television programs as the Ralph Emery Show, Nashville Today, Good Olâ Nashville Music and Music Hall America.
When Falls died in Nashville at the young age of 40 of a brain hemorrhage in June 1986, she was touted by the media along with Linda Martell for becoming one of the first black women to find significant success in country music. In a brief retrospective nine years after her death, Nashvilleâs major daily newspaper, The Tennessean, proclaimed, âAlong with other successful black artists of the period, such as Charley Pride and Stoney Edwards, she helped illuminate the black communityâs long history of artistic contributions to the country.â Tubb told the media after her death that âShe was the one of the best friends I ever had. Ruby Falls made everybody feel good that she was around.â
Born as Bertha Frances Bearden (married: Dorsey) in January 1946, on a farm near Jackson, Tennessee, Falls spent her early years primarily picking cotton, tomatoes and strawberries. She dreaded her days in the field at the hand of a strict grandmother, who was her guardian. For refuge, she listened to the radio a lot at night, particularly to country music heard frequently on station KLAC out of Gallatin, Tennessee. The sounds she heard prompted her to dream of a singing career. She began that career singing in churches, in schools on talent shows and at local social events as a teenager.
After high school she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, took voice, dance and charm lessons, and turned professional in early 1960âs by becoming lead singer with the group Harvey Scales and the Seven Sounds. The group travelled all over the country and performed country, pop, and rock in such places as Las Vegas and New York supper clubs. Then she joined a rock and jazz band whose club dates were typically closer to home. Then she decided to concentrate on the music she enjoyed most and moved to Nashville. There she was discovered by Johnny Howard, who signed her to 50 States in 1974.
She took the name Ruby Falls from one of Tennesseeâs natural treasures- a cavern that is 1,100 feet below the surface of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, is the deepest cavern in the United States and boasts the highest underground waterfall open to the public. âItâs like a dream come true,â she says in a publicity brief, about her success as Ruby Falls. âI get to thinking about everything good thatâs happened to me since I moved to Nashville and sometimes I get so excited I feel I sing in my sleep every night.â Of her move to Nashville to concentrate on both singing and writing country, she adds, âIt made sense. Thereâs a lot of country girl left in me and I guess it shows in my music like it does in my talkingâŠI love music and I love people, so my main goal is making music that people will love. I want to do my very best all the time so people will love me.â
After pounding the Nashville pavement and landing a recording contract, Falls found that having records out in the public and getting touring dates was not enough to bring her what she wanted. She wanted more. She wanted to catapult her career to the next level. A grand opportunity to just that came to her in 1976 when she won a slot to perform before thousands of country radio on-air personalities and executives from around the country. Gathered in Nashville for their annual industry convention known as the Country Radio Seminar, these are the people who somehow had to become attracted to Falls and be part of an overall effort to promote her and her music if she were to become a true star. But the opportunity didnât open the doors she had expected, and by the time of her death she was disgruntled at not having done better in her career and had taken a traditional job at a computer firm.
Falls did not blame peopleâs reaction to her race for her not reaching the heights she had dreamed of, and she had earlier vowed to keep trying to reach her career goals in every way she could think of. âEverybodyâs been real nice to me,â she said in a September 1977 Essence magazine article. âIâve never had negative incidents on the road. If I did, I wouldnât pay them any mindâŠI want to be a star. No one ever told me that it was gonna be easy. Iâm gonna hang on in there for as long as it takes to make it.â

Debbie Deane hails from a musical world without boundaries, where singer-songwriters and top-tier jazz musicians breathe the same creative air. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Debbie grew up listening to Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, and Steely Dan. As a teenager she explored the fertile ground of the Great American Songbook. Introduced to folk, funk and fusion by her older brother, she studied the great divas of the jazz and pop worlds developing an intense interest in jazz harmony. Music was the ultimate refuge.
After earning a degree in English Literature from Harvard, Debbie embarked on a career in music. She studied jazz intensively at Bostonâs Berklee College of Music, honing the piano skills that she continues to display as a singer-songwriter. At first her songwriting and singing came as an afterthought, but then took center stage.
In her performing and recording life, Debbie had the good fortune to work with  acclaimed jazz musicians who share her interest in quality songwriting â people like drummer Brian Blade and the late, great bass player Jeff Andrews.  Moving back to Brooklyn, she lived in a ""jazz den"" with some of the cityâs most promising jazz musicians, including saxophonists Seamus Blake and Terry Deane, drummer Marc Miralta and pianists John Stetch and George Colligan. ""Everyone came through our place,"" says Debbie. ""The people Iâve played with, theyâre all my friends and theyâve known me, theyâve been my roommates and people I went to school with."" Their presence on Debbieâs recordings and at her live shows is a powerful endorsement.
Debbie continues to gig extensively in New York and beyond.

Debbie Deane has been a piano teacher for over 20 years. She teaches out of her home in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, specializing in kids ages 6 and up. Â
She teaches the fundamentals and basics - scales, reading music, music theory, and playing by ear. Her students play a lot of songs. Each student is different, and she tailors lessons accordingly. As a result, she teaches all styles of music. She does have a soft spot for Bach and Beethoven, so everyone has to try classical, which is great for technique.

There was an ability Parak had; one that had been taught to him by Lilith herself.
He did not use it often â not anymore â there were rarely ever any reasons to. There had been theological discussions in his family about it, and ethical debates, but Parak hadn't cared then for such matters. If their Goddess did not wish for them to wield such a power, then why would she have taught it to him? It was useful. It had served him countless times. He was proud of it.Â
Because Lilith had taught him how to sing.
Not with mere notes or inflections, mind, for he already knew many of those. Song in and of itself was an act of worship to her, the Mother of Demons, and so he had been raised to know such things. Rather, she taught him to sing the way SHE did, in an honor only the oldest of his siblings had ever known. He had wept before her at such a gift. She'd taught him to realize the timbre of a person's soul â or a crowd â and to modulate his voice into step. A power to be used with care, for it clashed with the very ideals of freedom Lilith had chosen to embody.

"Who was the first person you killed, Jillian?" Parak asked, using the ability now for the first time in years. He spoke with the sweetness of sugar and the comfort of sleep, and the pride that came from things one had done. He thought it a fairly benign question, because moments before she had asked him to 'wow' her with one of his 'birdy' powers. "Will you tell me? Won't you?"
He could see it in her eyes that he had her ensnared, and couldn't help but smile with that predatory beak. The question repeated over and over in Jillian's mind, coiling like whispering snakes. Won't you won't you won't you...?

It hasn't meant to go this way. When Jillian had asked Parak to wow her with his powers, she'd assumed he'd do something flashy and spectacular, the kind of thing she'd gush about and said gushing would feed the pretty bird's ego. It was supposed to be a win-win for the both of them- entertainment for her and praise for Parak. But instead...instead he was breaking into her mind. With sweetness and soothing melody, he was smashing the mental barriers and boundaries she had in place, pulling the anguished memory she'd kept buried so deep in her mind out of darkness and into the light through her own voice. "His name was Billy...Billy Logan. He was a friend'a my Johnny, an' was married to my best friend, Moira." The words were spoken in a soft, almost dreamy way, the tone not matching the near frantic, horrified look in Jillian's eyes, as they darted back and forth, trying to find some way to keep from speaking. But she couldn't move, couldn't even cover her mouth with her shaking hands. And the magic didn't seem content to pull just a name from her- not, it wanted more. "I was jus' 19 when it happened. Me, Johnny, Moira an' Billy were all out on a double date together at the local jazz club. My Johnny had taken Moira home, 'cause he was feelin' sick an' she needed to get home early for a doctor's appointment. Billy an' I stayed out a lil' longer though, since we wanted to hear the band at the club a lil' longer. He was gonna walk me home after." The words still flowed, and now they were accompanied by tears. Still, that eerie dreamy tone never changed. "We were in the woods, an' he started flirtin'. I figured he was jus' bein' kind, but he wouldn' stop. Then he tried to kiss me." Anger filled the eyes- unimaginable rage and disgust. "I was so angry. He was my best friend's hubby, an' I was happily married too. I pushed him back, screamin' at him an' tellin' him to back off." Now fear. The anger was still there, but a kind of lingering, low burning terror joined it. "He didn' like that. Started callin' me all kinda names, sayin' I was a tease an' that I led him on by stayin' behind at the club. Then he t-tried to grab at me, an' he pinned me against the tree. Said he'd teach me a lesson. Said he'd tell Moira an' Johnny I'd seduced 'im. Said nobody'd believe me." For the first time, her words caught. The tone didn't change, but Jillian's pale, almost green complexion showed that she was starting to feel sick talking about this. "I didn' have a choice. I bit his neck as hard as I could, 'til I could taste blood. He was smackin' me and tryin' to get me to let go, but I jus' wouldn'. I still had some'a his skin in my mouth, when he managed to yank free." Please, let it end soon...please. "I didn' let him go though. I was so angry, so scared. I stabbed 'im 'bout a dozen times with a letter opener I had in my purse." Jillian's knees gave out at this point. "I threw his body to the gators, rinsed as best I could, an' went home. I never told anybody what happened. Not Johnny, not Moira, not anybody." Finally, the magic left her, and Jillian promptly vomited onto the ground, shaky sobs leaving her as she looked at Parak with betrayal. "Wh-why would you do that to me?!"

Not really, itâs my initials but when I first released Tired of Christmas, a lot of the streaming services put it out on the wrong profile as there was already an artist called John Chamberlain. There are probably still some platforms that have it out under the wrong artist, but if you see Tired of Christmas, just know that itâs MINE! Where do you find inspiration? I think the answer to that is life. Thereâs always something happening, Iâm a really busy person, but I go through phases of prolific songwriting and itâs usually when Iâm working through something. Possibly why my lyrics can be a littleâŠemotional. What was the role of music in the early years of your life? It was everything. I remember my parents playing records while they cooked. Thatâs how I first discovered a lot of the music that I still listen to today. I associate Tom Waits with the smell of frying onions. Heâd probably like it that way too. Are you from a musical or artistic family? Yeah, my Dad is a painter who has been quite active in recent years. He also plays guitar. My Grandfather was a singer in jazz bands and on Christmases gone by I remember the whole family singing old folk and traditional Irish songs. My brother plays bass with me in 2 bands (Box Time and Love Barons). Itâs woven throughout my family, both historically and currently. Who inspired you to be a part of the music industry? Iâve always wanted to be in a band since I can remember, but never thought Iâd end up being a songwriter. There are two people that continue to inspire me to write and create, neither of whom are still with us, sadly. One is my former friend and bandmate Lanfranco, I write a lot for him. Thereâs even a song dedicated to him that Iâll be putting out in the near future. The other is my Uncle Will, who was just the coolest musician I ever knew. Thereâs not much he couldnât do. He and my Dad had me playing one-note solos in their band when I was 4 years old. How did you learn to sing/write/to play? Iâm self taught. I always loved Frank Zappa for having the guts to create his own label when all the majors turned him down. He was a true DIY artist. I really admire Mark Oliver Everett or âEâ from Eels for the same reason. The idea that everything can be done from home is inspiring. Did your style evolve since the beginning of your career? Massively. I was always the lead guitarist in other peopleâs projects until I formed Box Time and started writing my own songs which helped me to have the confidence to be a frontman. Who do you see as your main competitor? I donât see other artists as competition, I think weâre all here to support each other in this game. If anything, the odds are stacked against us in terms of the way that the industry is structured. This is why we all need to help each other wherever we can. Iâve had some overwhelming support from some great artists recently and Iâll give that back however I can. What are your interests outside of music? Iâm passionate about neurodiversity and equal rights. Also food, and coffee! If it wasn't a music career, what would you be doing? It would still be something in music. Maybe Film. I used to enjoy taking part in independent film projects. What is the biggest problem you have encountered in the journey of music? There are lots of little bumps in the road. I think the big problem in grassroots live music is promoters that are still operating with ticket systems that are practically pay to play. The problem lies mainly in London and major cities but the cut that bands take is so small compared to the money they earn for these promoters, and the âpromotionâ that takes place is often as little as a short Instagram story that lasts a day in return. If you could change one thing in the music industry, what would it be? The biggest issue at the moment is the closure of music venues. This is often down to decisions made by the government and the lack of finances. The arts arenât taken as seriously as they should be. In the pandemic, the biggest insult to the arts was the government advising us all to âretrain.â That tells you everything you need to know about their attitude. Why did you choose this as the title of this project? Iâm not a Grinch, or a Scrooge, or a Christmas curmudgeon. Iâve had a tough year in my personal life and although I can usually overlook the ever increasing prematurity of the Christmas hype, I just felt that this year I could do without it. Iâm very much looking forward to Christmas itself, but I feel that weâre diluting Christmas by celebrating it too early with hyper-consumerism. What are your plans for the coming months? hi! i was wondering if you have any tips to stay organized and stay on task? iâve been doing a short online course this year and have really struggled to ACTUALLY bring myself to do the work, as assignments and lessons are not under any time constraints i just donât do it. i also have adhd so get bored or distracted easily. do you have any tips for me?
This is really close to me because I also have ADHD. I have both inattentive and hyperactive type. *As a result, this academic tip guide will be a guide for people with ADHD and not neurotypical people, without disability. There is a difference.*
I am doing online as well this semester.
1. I create a schedule. If I do not create a schedule, I will be unproductive the entire day. So, what will help you is to do things in orderly fashion.
For example, at 12p - I will do this assignment/watch this lecture. You have to dictate what time youâre doing everything. Then, you also have to block out technology distractions while you are working. ïżŒ
-> Even if youâve gotten halfway through the day with no schedule, write down or block off times on your digital calendar for what you are going to do at each time. ADHD is easier to tackle if you break things down into smaller tasks.
*Pro tip that I almost forgot: before you do anything, wear your day clothes. Donât wear pajamas. Actually getting dressed or even doing hair/makeup changes things.
2. Download the Forest app after you have created your schedule. I consistently recommend this because it works in increasing productivity. It allows you to set it for however long youâre doing this task, say 30 minutes.
-> Why?: It will block all apps on your phone for (insert time here) to plant a tree, and if you leave the app your âtreeâ will die. Eventually, the more sessions you do, the more points you will gain to plant different plants, and eventually plant real trees around the world.
3. Have a list (& a planner) as well. Not only is the schedule creating structure, but the list creates even more structure so you know what you need to get done for the day. It also helps you not fall victim to the classic symptom of forgetting. Each day, you should write down what you WANT to get done and create your own times to look at lecture and assignments. Have goals for the day.
For example: complete assignment 2.
If you do not have expectations with yourself before the day begins, your ADHD will kind of take over and do something else. I have structure to my day. I set a timer to wake up at the same time. I take my ADHD medicine 90 minutes before my final wake up time, and I do my morning routine once it kicks in. Having the same routine helps.
-> Focus on your goals. Donât be super harsh about the times.
-> Donât overwhelm with how many things on to do list. Again, break it up into small tasks. For example, one part being: Wash dishes or fold laundry. It makes it less overwhelming to your brain and gives you a choice of which task. Typical non ADHD people just tell you to prioritize tasks but that doesnât work for us. Do it in a random order and it gets the job done.
4. TAKE BREAKS! The other side to this is making sure that you give yourself adequate breaks.
*For hyperfocus, wait til your hyperfocus has started to wear off. Use it to your advantage for peak productivity. It is no joke.*
-> The misconception is that some people with ADHD are lazy and as a result, some ADHDers wonât take breaks. You can take a break. Healthy, long breaks do more for you long term.
-> Have a timer set. For example, after a 45 minute session or an hour session, I will take a break to do another task that has nothing to do with studying, like laundry, eating a snack, or stretching. Then after that task is done, I will go back to studying.
5. Have a workspace. Only do work at this space. I do schoolwork at my living room table and it is perfect. I do not study in my room because that is my sanctuary for relaxation and rest, not productivity. Make an effort to make the workspace clean, with your supplies - laptop, notebooks, pens, etc - readily available.
-> Once I get to my workspace, everything for the morning is already done. Iâve done my morning routine, so all there is left to do is hydrate while I study.
6. Recognize if you have adequate energy to do the task. Sometimes, with ADHD you may neglect your needs. If you are not getting enough rest, here are some tips:
âąBed should be for rest only.
âąBlackout curtains
âąLavender essential oil, I have a diffuser but you can also put it on your pillow
âąBackground noise: pick what you want, lo fi music, rain sounds, binaural beats, singing bowls
âąIf all else fails, ADHD is often comorbid with other illnesses, meaning you could have a form of depression causing insomnia for example. This should be considered if you are having long term issues and symptoms.
7. Donât overdo it. We are not neurotypical. Executive dysfunction is real - meaning our brains actually shut down when it perceives a task to be mundane.
-> You do not have to fit everything into one schedule for the sake of being âproductiveâ. Each day should be what you know you can do, and there are different days to tackle different goals.
-> When you feel like you cannot continue, which is literally a symptom of ADHD, sit still for a few minutes.
8. Have a âWhat I Did Todayâ List. Because of how ADHD actually makes us feel, we donât realize how much work we have put in. ADHD actually can be explained easily, we have about 2 dopamine workers showing up to work while most people are at maximum capacity. We are working overtime to do our best, even on medicine. So, acknowledging what we did today is good and encouraging, or at least reflecting in a journal.
9. Play music. Itâs recommended to play study music without words because with ADHD we will submerge ourselves into the playlist of nostalgic 90s R&B. I recommend lo fi hip hop on YouTube, video game instrumentals, classical music, or jazz instrumentals. Whatever gets you going just do it!
General ADHD tips:
âąRewrite lecture notes and type the lecture notes.
âąColor code with bright colors and pretty drawings or calligraphy
âąInstead of telling yourself âI need to take notesâ which usually leads to procrastination say âRewrite lecture notes and emphasize main pointsâ ... this is useful in your to do list but in everyday goals
âąGenerally try to get your assignments done ahead of time if there is structure to certain courses, if not, again, stick to the schedule. If you slip one day off your schedule then donât beat yourself up. Breathe!!!
âąSide effect of most ADHD meds is that youâre not hungry so buy easy things to eat like muscle milk or yogurt and granola or smoothies so you can sustain yourself
âąGet a dry erase board to show what you need to do for the day and put it on the fridge with command strips
âąTo avoid forgetting things, put them at a table near the door where you leave your apartment/dorm/house.
âąDonât overthink the time it takes to get ready, often thatâs why ADHDers are late. Better to be super early than late though - have a routine set so you know how long each task takes - for example âI know a shower takes me 15 mins, washing my face takes 60 seconds and a few more including sunscreen/moisturizer, etc...â
âąIn that same grain, set timers for going to the bathroom, showering, etc just in case you one day hyperfocus and push yourself too far
âąOpen the blinds!!!!
âąClean your room and tidy up your space. A cluttered space impacts your mental health in a really negative way. Your space reflects your mental state at times as well, so check in with yourself. Have a specific day where you know youâre going to clean, but ADHD sometimes gives us bursts of cleaning so take advantage of that as well.
âąAnytime your water bottle empties refill it. Have your water bottle or mason jar next to your workspace, and drink 5-10 gulps. Seriously. ADHD depends a lot on hydration, especially if you are on medicine which naturally dehydrates you. If you do not stay hydrated, youâll get that massive headache mid day and crash sooner. A lot of times, lack of productivity can be due to not drinking enough water.
âąIf you donât take medication, then sometimes you may notice you love coffee, and thatâs because itâs a stimulant. Too much of anything is not good, but balance it with water. If youâre going to use coffee to kinda âmedicateâ then do it close to when youâre going to be productive.
âąSetting yourself up to do a task rather than envisioning the overwhelming act of doing the entire action. âOkay, lets just get up and get the first step down, such as opening the laptop or wetting the toothbrush.â Baby steps.
âąTake advantage of accommodations! Your college more than likely has an Office of Disability Services. Also, email your professors...theyâre actually just as stressed as you about classes being online.
âąRemember that youâre already trying as hard as you can, so donât listen to the narrative of âtry harderâ, âyouâre *r word*â, âyouâre cheating by using medicationâ, âjust do it,â âitâs easy,â âwhatâs so hard about it?â or âyouâre lazyâ. Anyone telling you that, even yourself, is wrong. And DO NOT allow anyone to be ableist, even yourself.
âąValidate yourself. Donât let anyone to do the âI experience that tooâ/âI know what you meanâ/âwe ALL have trouble with this!â and they donât have ADHD. No. Itâs our experience, itâs valid, and unlike anything on the planet. If youâre reading this and you donât have ADHD - no, you do not experience any of the things in my next bullet point.
âąDonât be hard on yourself if you stumble along the way getting this right. ADHD completely changes your executive functioning.
We see the task, but our brain blocks it.
We have something marked down as âimportantâ but our brain tosses it out in the âtrashâ.
We watch an entire episode of a show, but our brain ignored the entire thing. Our brain picks and chooses what is stimulating, our brain changes our interests.
We have sensory overload, we have no dopamine, we have bursts of curiosity that cannot be contained (often inconvenient) and if interrupted, our brains cannot take it.
People often discount how many things ADHD actually changes because itâs widely misunderstood. I want to take the time to acknowledge that ADHD, formerly known as simply ADD, has different types: primarily inattentive, primarily hyperactive-impulsive, or combined which is what I have. So itâs not âhyperâ and ârelatableâ. It is also not a buzzword to use to describe things. I must put stereotypes and misrepresentations of ADHD to rest.
It impacts us emotionally as well, which most people donât know... such as rejection dysphoria â extreme sensitivity to being criticized to where our brains self destruct. Our brains donât regulate emotions well.
ADHDers - do not fall victim to how everyone else operates and call yourself a failure. We have to work twice as hard and the results actually come out brilliant especially with our determination and imaginative ideas that are also seen in autistic individuals, honorable mention!
Thereâs good days and bad days. Thereâs literal changes in thinking that other people do not experience. We all collectively know wouldnât be who we are without ADHD, but we all recognize the challenges. However, it makes me happy to see messages like this so that I can make a difference and hopefully help one person with ADHD, especially of color, at a time stop being so hard on themselves. đ

Fred has always been really good at sleight of hand stuff, as a kid, he could do card tricks with ease, steal baked goods from his motherâs kitchen and later on since his allowance wasnât exactly anything to brag about, heâd steal sweets from honeydukes' on Hogsmeade trips, with the help of George, heâs not proud of it but in his defence, he was a stupid teenage boy at the time.Â
Fred is incredibly competitive and will hold onto anything you challenge him to for way longer than you might think. Heâs definitely the type to ârace youâ anytime youâre headed to herbology, care against magical creatures or Hogsmeade together.
As the man himself said in the deathly hallows, Fred doesnât like the idea of a big grandiose wedding ceremony, heâd prefer something more low-key and simple, where the focus is more on having fun and celebrating instead of neat seating plans and meticulously chosen decorations. Some flowers and booze will do, heâll provide the fireworks - In essence, he only needs his S/O and the rest he couldnât care less about.Â
George may be better at cooking, but Fred makes a damn good pancake and he will forever pride himself on that.Â
Fred is the more jealous, overprotective twin. Heâs aware of this and tries his best not to let it go to his head but he canât help it.Â
Fred snores, Iâm pretty sure itâs canon that both twins snore, but Fred is louder and, as mentioned in my last headcanon post, a very heavy sleeper meaning itâs more difficult to get him to wake up so he can stop, your best shot is trying (and probably failing) to turn him over.Â
Fred is also a very restless sleeper, heâll toss and turn, and occasionally dream about quidditch. Iâm saying you might want to be aware that he might confuse you for a bludger in his sleep, donât worry though, heâll always apologise profusely and make it up to you with a lot of kisses (and maybe a bit more than that, if youâre keen ;))Â
Fred has an extensive caffeine addiction, which is unfortunate cause heâs quite hyper already but he canât function properly until he gets his coffee in the morning, and then again in between lessons/at lunch and then again late in the afternoon. Sometimes, if he needed to write an essay that was due, heâd drink coffee at like nine pm. He knows he wonât be able to sleep because of it, please, Y/n, heâs accepted his fate.Â
I personally always imagined the twins as having ADHD, idk why it just fits their characters. Fred is for sure the more outwardly fidgety and intrusive, this gets less and less with age, as it does for a lot of ADHD people, his inability to focus remains the same though.Â
Fred loves being outside, heâs the first of the Weasley siblings to suggest a game of quidditch or just going outside for walks, hide and seek in the woods near their house. He absolutely loves taking his dates on walks in parks or at the beach and when he has kids he plays with them in their yard, building snowmen etc.Â
Fred probably suggests at some point that the whole family should go camping, and heâs actually really fun to camp with. Heâll tell the best scary stories by the campfire.Â
In regards to children, Fred wants a lot of kids. Like at least three but would be willing to have more if his s/o wants to. He just really likes the dynamic of a large family since thatâs what heâs used to.Â
Fredâs favourite flavour of sweets is anything sour, the sourer the better, because of this he can handle it really well and he loves handing people some of his ridiculously sour candy and watching them squirm.Â
He also really likes spicy food, heâs a bit of a daredevil so donât challenge him to eat anything because he will eat a whole chilli and nearly die.Â
 You know heâd be really casual about it too, lol, like sweating and crying but just leaning on the counter like â*pant* what? hot? no not at all *deeeeep breath* I can ha-aw-rdly taste it!âÂ
One thing about Fred is that heâs oddly squeamish, like seeing his brotherâs ear blown off isnât so bad (if you donât take into account the emotional trauma that is), but a needle for a blood sample or a vaccine? oooh, heâs gonna need a big juice box and a cookie and his s/oâs hand to hold if heâs gonna make it through. He also has a thing about leeches. One time at Hogwarts they were mentioned in a lesson and he thought he was going to faint the entire time.Â
Fredâs broken five bones over the years, four are from quidditch: his left arm and two ribs, and then the other arm from trying to do an elaborate stunt on the stairs in the burrow and falling down two flights.Â
Fred loves to sing karaoke (because I cannot get that damn clip of James singing karaoke out of my head) though he particularly enjoys doing a very poor job on purpose.Â
Fred is such a good liar that on several occasions heâs given presentations in school and gotten good marks for them despite having bullshat his way through the entire thing.Â
Like seriously, heâs that guy in the group project who only looks at the slides like five minutes before the presentation and then just turns on a full charming newscaster voice on the professor to the point of them being genuinely convinced (albeit a little confused) that what Fredâs saying is true.Â
This is also why Fred loves playing card games like poker: heâs really good at bluffing.Â
Speaking of poker-face, heâs really quite good at teasing in public (if youâre into that sort of thing *wink*) because no matter the dirty deeds he might get up to under a table, his face remains as regular as always (safe for a little smirk to his lover every now and then)Â
Fred always wanted to learn an instrument, he thought itâd make him cooler when he was a teenager, as an adult, he just really wants to recreate that clip of the trombone-playing dad with the sunglasses, or maybe serenade some cows with jazz or something.Â
Fred was never a big fan of the uniform thing, so he always tried to make it his own, whether that be tying the tie differently, or having his sleeves rolled up; itâs not much but you gotta take what you can get when youâre literally dressed the same as everyone else.Â
Fred might make fun of his dadâs interest in muggle things but secretly he loves it too. He has spent a lot of hours in the shed with Arthur, assuring everyone that it was just to have some quality time with his dad but he would still pay close attention when Arthur explained things to him.Â
Fred had a whole business of selling candy from Honeydukesâ and joke products from Zonkoâs to second and first years before he and George started dabbling with their own products, he could get you a butterbeer too but itâll cost you an extra three galleons.Â
Fred really likes glitter, George has a thing for lace, anything that glitters on his s/o makes Fred weak. If you want to get your way just put on some glittery eyeshadow or lipgloss and watch him spin.Â
Since he loves things that glitter and gleam he loves buying his s/o jewellery, he loves seeing them wearing them as little tokens of their relationship.Â

Fred is incredible with numbers, this is pretty much canon and has been explored but Iâm just amazed at this boyâs wit AND intellect. I have a slight headcanon that if he ever goes on a proper first date with someone where a bill is involved, he impresses his date by calculating the tip after just a glance.
Even if Fred has a longstanding reputation of not caring about school, when he has kids he does want to help them with any coursework over the summer and Christmas breaks, heâll even study up on his old books just to be able to help out in any classes he didnât take/didnât pay attention in.Â
Fred would, in general, be an amazing father. Heâs goofy and playful most of the time, though heâs serious and incredibly caring whenever his kids are in a bad mood or have problems. He knows that heâs not the most outwardly emotional of the twins but he makes sure his kids know they can always talk to him about anything.Â
Fred is incredibly messy. His room is usually a cry for help and he only cleans it when it gets to the point where it distracts him from focusing on work.Â
No worries though, his S/O doesnât have to do all the housework for him, heâll do it. He just needs to be reminded that he needs to every once in a while.Â
Fred has a really bad temper, he doesnât know where he gets it from but he tends to get angry easier than George, though Fred is better at letting it out so it doesnât continue to bother him.Â
His bad temper does mean that he used to brawl more with siblings as a kid, and it wasnât unusual to see him with scrapes and bruises as a kid, much to Mollyâs dismay. Fred didnât mind though, he thought it made him look tough.Â
Fred is more likely to get caught sneaking around because of his brash nature, he tends to forget just how quiet you have to be to avoid Mrs Norris in the corridors.Â
Fred is certainly not an early bird but his favourite time of day is, in fact, the morning when the sunâs coming up. He only knows this because of Woodâs ridiculously early quidditch practices but thereâs something about the way the world looks when itâs bathed in soft golden light that just hits different to Fred.Â
Fred is a great team player, as much as he seems like heâs more selfish than George, if itâs regarding a team activity (like quidditch or a battle of sorts) heâll completely lose all focus on himself and only try to ensure otherâs safety and victory. This is also why he plays as a beater, heâs not afraid of getting hit at all when heâs focused on getting the bludgers away from his teammates.Â
So if his s/o ever needs it, heâll be there to help with anything: Needs to take a day off from work to take care of his sick s/o? no problem. Needs to stay up with his small child because his s/o is exhausted and needs rest? On it. Something as small as carrying groceries or books, making a cup of tea when the other is busy or doing the dishes is all on the list of things that Fred will happily do for his s/o, and often without having to be asked, heâll just do it.Â
Fredâs boggart is seeing his family members and/or his s/o hurt beyond what he can save. Essentially his worst fear is being helpless when he needs it most.Â
One of those times was when George lost his ear. The first night when George was lying practically unconscious on the couch with blood everywhere was the worst night of Fredâs life, he truly felt so anxious and helpless and angry that he vomited and ended up passing out next to the couch after staying up till sunrise watching his brother like a hawk.Â
He didnât just sleepwalk when he was younger, he also often experienced nightmares, itâs only George, Molly and Arthur who remembers anything about this.Â
They got less and less the older he got and he assumed that heâd never be bothered by them again until after the second wizarding war and the battle of Hogwarts.Â
I donât like to headcanon that he dies cause he didnât and thatâs final lol. I do, however, headcanon that Fred still gets hurt, since everyone in the explosion beside him seemed to sustain minor injuries, I just think that to even out with George losing his ear, he hurts his leg and needs a lot of retraining/a walking stick. I think thatâd be a more fair/unfair ending for Fred whoâs always full of energy having to have to adjust to living slowly for a little while (not permanently, I couldnât do that to my boy).Â
The boy has anxiety sometimes, ok. (just let me project for a second)
He didnât know how much tension he usually holds in his body until he drank alcohol for the first time and felt his entire body loosen up and was like âhuh this is new.âÂ
He doesnât use alcohol to deal with it though, he prefers just talking to George about whenever he feels is stressing him out and that helps. A massage from his s/o to loosen him up doesnât hurt either.Â
Fred prefers to talk to his dad about his problems more than he prefers to talk to Molly, generally.Â
His favourite body parts on his s/o: Shoulders, hips, hands.Â
He loves to kiss, just in general, but he also loves kissing his s/oâs nose, forehead, neck, shoulder, etc. as little gestures of affection.Â
He def. has a bit of a size kink, he loves being taller than his s/o.Â
If Fred could have any pet he wanted, heâd probably want a dog, the bigger the better. He doesnât think he has the time for a pet though.Â
It was his idea to start breeding pygmy puffs, itâs the closest heâll get to having a pet.Â
I donât know why but I feel like when Fred and his s/o are expecting and his s/o goes into labour he just panics. loses it, drops the binkie as we say in Denmark: Freaks the fuck out, if you will. Heâs definitely the pacing and wringing his hands together type, though he probably tries his best to keep himself composed and chill during the whole thing whilst simultaneously hyperventilating.Â
Fred doesnât cry often but he sure as hell wept with pride when he held all his kids for the first time.Â
Despite the notion that the twins often slip in a joke version of a sweet treat or something similar amongst the snacks at parties, Fred is strongly against tampering with drinks. He knows the connotations it holds and he doesnât want anyone to be afraid theyâd put something in it. If he wants you to test out their truth serum or a love potion, heâll just ask you flat out and if you donât want to, heâs not going to continue asking.Â
Most of the detentions Fred has gotten from Snape come from times heâs spoken back to him when Snapeâs been giving another student a rough time. He doesnât regret it one bit.Â
 If you ask Fred what his proudest accomplishment is, heâll probably say that itâs having had enough restraint to not punch Umbridge in the face every time he saw her.Â
On the note of Umbridge. It wasnât her detentions with him that got his blood boiling, it was when she punished little kids (a la Nigel) for doing practically nothing, he understands that to an extent and by comparison, setting off a bunch of fireworks inside a building would harbour a harsher punishment, but making twelve-year-olds bleed for running in the halls or playing music or just doing things that twelve-year-olds will inevitably do, is something Fred doesnât understand. That year pretty much any kid younger than him, or anyone who was too afraid to stand up for themselves, became Fred and Georgeâs little siblings, and theyâre very protective older brothers. Umbridge can vouch for that.Â
He struggles with a lot of insecurity in his relationships, he always puts on a front of being extra funny and outgoing when heâs in a new relationship because heâs secretly afraid that the way he is isnât good enough and that eventually, his s/o will see through him and leave because they donât like the softer, more serious side of him.Â
Fred is the godfather of all of Georgeâs kids but is also the godparent of Hugo, Lily and Lucy.Â
Fred loves business meetings, he sees them as a good challenge to practice his smooth talk.Â
Fred spent his first salary from the shop on the most expensive bottle of champagne he could find and a new suit.Â
Fred tried to get into whiskey, feeling like itâd make him a cool business owner type of man, so, with his second salary, he went out and bought a fancy-schmancy bottle of whiskey and the whole getup with a bottle and some cool glasses, and then invited Lee over to try it with him and George.Â
They did not like it. Fred thought it tasted like what he imagined gasoline tastes like so they mostly used it as decorations, not having the heart to mix it with something.Â
Fred doesnât necessarily like PDA, it depends on what you mean. He likes being secretive. Pulling his s/o into an empty classroom, nook, hallway, secret pathway etc where anyone could wander in at any time and snogging her senseless is one of his favourite things to do.Â
Fred knows how good he looks in his quidditch uniform and will absolutely use it against his s/o. (theyâre gonna get spicy from here on so read with caution if you're in public)
Fred prefers giving more than receiving oral.Â
He has a lot of energy, did you not think that would rub off (no pun intended) on his sex drive? He can go pretty much any time and place, and typically last at least two rounds.Â
Also, his favourite position is having you on top. Okay, I'm gonna stop now.Â

Snow and Song Chapter 5
About five seconds after Danny registered the huge crowd of people gathered in the park (and why were they there? Â Had there been some kind of event he forgot about?), it began to snow. Â Danny looked around himself in alarm. Â He was often insensitive to temperature changes (and a few other things, according to his sister), but it wasnât nearly cold enough snow. Â It was September.
He looked up. Â There werenât even any clouds. Â
A snowflake, perfect and crystalline, stuck to his eyelash. Â
Alright.  When something weird and unnatural started to happen in Amity Park, usually there was a ghost involved.  All Danny had to do was find the ghost causing it to⊠snowâŠ
Oh. Â Right. He was a ghost that could make snow. Â
He was an idiot. Â He hadnât even noticed his core activating. Â His cheeks flushed with cold. Â This was so embarrassing.
Wincing, he looked back down at the crowd. Â Only about a tenth of the people had phones in their hands, winking camera lenses pointed up at him, but that was more than enough. Â He felt entirely too visible. Â
⊠Which he could fix because he was a ghost, darn it, something that he kept forgetting about tonight.  Berating himself, he adjusted his visibility down to zero and flew away. Â
Almost at once, all the birds took off, the sound of wings obscuring whatever the humans down below were saying. Â
Danny didnât stop until he got home, trailing snow all the while. Â He was not looking forward to tomorrow, but for tonight, maybe, he could forget what had happened. Â
He went human, phased off his clothes, laid down on his bed, closed his eyes, and started to-
âMaddie!â shouted Jack. Â âThe ghost-kid is on TV again! Â Heâs in the park!â
âOh, good! Â Go start up the GAV! Â This time, weâll catch him! Â Iâll be with you in a minute!â
Danny let out the breath he had been holding since his dad startled him from his doze in a long sigh. Â He resigned himself to being woken up at least once more that night.

The first rays of sunlight filtering through Dannyâs window brought with them something that would have chilled Danny to the core if his core werenât naturally frosty. Â
Music. Â
He peeled his eyes open slowly, grudgingly, because it was still September, and sunrise was still quite a bit before the time he had to get up in the morning. Â Hoping he was hallucinating, he trudged over to the window and pulled back the curtains.
Ah, yes. Â He hadnât quite expected to find a bunch of cultists standing outside his house with a boombox, playing back a rather scratchy version of Tale as Old as Time, but, somehow, he was unsurprised to do so. Â What exactly were they attempting to accomplish here?
One of the younger (about six years old) cultists waved up at him. Â Resigned, Danny waved back, then let the curtain fall back down. Â
He rubbed his eyes. Â Normal teenagers didnât have to deal with cults that worshiped them as a god. Â Even that dude from Nazareth was a full adult before he got hit with the heavy stuff. Â
(Yeah, because it wasnât at all a sign of megalomania, mental instability, or good old-fashioned insanity to compare himself to that guy.)
(He didnât want a cult, darn it.)
What did they want, anyway?
He got dressed and started downstairs. Â To his horror (but again, not surprise) he heard more music emanating from the kitchen. Â
âWhat are you guys doing?â Danny asked. Â
âOh, morning, Danno!â boomed Jack.
âShh, shh,â said Maddie. Â âWe need to go over that last part again. Â There are pancakes on the stove, sweetie.â
âOh,â said Danny. Â âThanks. But, really, what are you doing?â
âAnalyzing the sound patterns of Phantomâs voice!â said Jack. Â âWe missed it before, but he must have a low-level mind control power! Â Just like that Rockstar ghost!â
âSneaky post-human ectoplasm glob,â muttered Maddie. âThatâs how heâs got so many people on his side. Â Heâs brainwashing them. Â But donât worry, sweetie. Â As soon as we figure out how heâs doing it, weâll be working on a cure!â
âWell,â said Danny, trying not to sound bitter. They had made him pancakes. âThatâs news to me.â

Danny stepped out of the house and sighed in the general direction of the cult. Â
As always, acknowledging them in any way shape or form proved to be a mistake. Â They rushed at him. Â
âDaniel Fenton,â intoned todayâs leader, a man wearing robes colored in an approximation of Phantomâs suit.  His beard was⊠interesting.
âWhat?â asked Danny. Â If only there was a way to skip through awkward conversations like this, like there was in video games. Â But, no, life was like one, huge, un-skippable cutscene. Â Tragic.
âLast night, our Lord Phantom gave us a message. A message, and a divine task.â
Danny was pretty sure heâd remember that. Â âWhat task?â he asked, resigned.
âTo spread his word through song! Â And you, his prophet, his chosen, his blessed consort, shall reveal his intent upon the stage of the Casper High School Musical!â
âIâm begging you, call it anything but that.â
âWe will do anything to make the Casper High School Musical go well! Â We are at your command!â
âPlease stop picketing my house and harassing me on the way to school.â
âWe have fine members of our choir here to audition for you! Â Please take word of their worthiness to our Lord Phantom.â
Several of the cultists began to sing.
âDanny!â called Jazz from the driveway. Â âStop feeding the cultists, or weâre going to be late for school!â

.
âSo,â said Sam. Â âThe Ghost Watch feed blew up last night.â
âI know,â said Danny. Â âI feel so stupid.â
âHey, itâs fine,â said Tucker. Â âBut we really do have to put some time aside to test whether or not you really do have a pied piper ability.â
âI made it snow while I was singing,â said Danny.
âAh. Â Weâll have to look into that, too,â said Tucker, making a note on his PDA. Â âWho wants to bet that the âPhan Clubâ will try to incorporate last nights performance into the play somehow?â
âThatâs not funny,â said Danny, closing his locker. âGuys, what if I accidently mind control the audience? Â Or start a snowstorm inside? Â The cultists are already on top of this. Â They were outside my house this morning.â
âAgain?â said Sam, raising an eyebrow.
âYes, again.â
âWhat did they want?â
âThey seem to think that thereâs going to be some kind of revelation in the play,â said Danny. Â He caught the look in Samâs eye. Â âSam. Â No.â
âSam, yes.â
âCults are not a toy,â cautioned Danny. Â
âNot the way youâre using them, they arenât.â
âSeriously, Sam. Â No matter how much you want to change the world, do not use a cult to do it. It never goes well.â
âChristianity started off as a cult.â
âAnd would you say that went well? Â Iâm asking you this as a Christian.â
âAre you a Christian?â asked Tucker. âIâve never seen you in a church. Can you go in a church? Have we tested that?â
âIâWhat?  Iâm not a demon, Tucker.  I went to church, uh⊠ Last Easter. I can totally go in a church.â
âYou had to think of that for an awfully long time.â
âWhat about a synagogue?â asked Sam. Â âOr a mosque?â
âI donât know. Â But youâd think that if I could go into a church, thatâd mean I could go into the other ones.â
âBut what if you couldnât?â asked Sam. Â âWould that mean that religion is more right than the others?â
âOr more wrong,â said Tucker, âsince Danny is a good guy.â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
âIââ started Danny.
âPHANTOM!â screamed Wes from down the hall, interrupting whatever revelation Danny could potentially have had.
âOh, great,â said Danny. Â âIâm not Phantom, Weston!â
âKids,â said Miss Lyn, poking her head into the hallway. Â âPlease donât shout in the halls. Â Class is about to start.â
âI have proof, this time!â crowed Wes. Â âI have video.â
âOh, no,â said Danny, with perfectly flat affect. âAre you here to harass me with yet another badly photoshopped, grainy, vertically filmed, twenty-second clip of me âtransformingâ into Phantom like some kind of anime heroine?â
Wes reared back, face coloring and nostrils flaring. Â
Danny would feel worse about what he had said, if half the videos in Wesâs last âFenton is Phantomâ presentation hadnât been exactly that. Â Tucker had made several of them and stealthily dropped them in various chat rooms for Wes to find, as something halfway between a joke and an exercise in misdirection. Â
As soon as Wes had included one of those in his presentation, it was doomed to be a laughingstock. Â Again, Danny almost felt bad. Â
âNo!â said Wes. Â He puffed his chest out. Â âFrom Ghost Watch!â
âUh huh.â
âI kind of feel like weâd be hearing about it from more than just you,â said Sam. Â
âYeah,â agreed Tucker. Â âIf the news decided Danny was Phantomâs dead twin or whatever, youâd think some of his groupies would be swarming.â Â He pointed at a pair of Phan Club members who were having a sedate conversation near the water fountain. Â âWhere are the groupies, Wes?â
âDid you not learn your lesson from the beauty pageant?â asked Sam. Â âOr Egypt?â
âI donât know, didnât you learn yours from Desiree?â
âWhoâs learning what from Desiree? Â Because you should ask her for a better naming sense. Â I mean, you just copied. Â Lame.â
âYouâre talking to me about copying? Â You vegans are the copiers! Â Vegetable burgers, tofurkey, where does it end?â
âWith the abolition of the cruelty of MEAT!â
At this point, most people would have started edging away from Sam and Tuckerâs patented and infamous meat vs. veggies argument. Â However, Wes had long since proven himself to be of sterner stuff, and Danny wanted to hear what he was on about.
âGuys,â he said, âguys, itâs not working. Â Heâs still here.â
Sam and Tucker turned back towards Wes. Â âBummer,â said Sam. Â
âYeah, Wes, why do you have to be such a bummer?â asked Tucker. Â
âLet him speak,â said Danny, magnanimously, twirling his hand. Â
Wes glowered. Â âWell, now I donât want to,â he said, mulishly. Â
âCome on, Wes, whatâs the video, donât leave us in suspense!â
Wes attempted to glower harder but failed. Â Grudgingly, he held up his phone, which did, indeed, play a video from Ghost Watch. Â Danny watched himself singing for several long seconds before returning his gaze to Wes.
âIâm not sure what this is supposed to prove.â
âThe song, you idiot! Â Itâs from Beauty and the Beast! Â And I know the drama club gave you that music.â
âA movie that thousands of thousands of people have watched and know the music for?â
âThat doesnât matter! Â Youâre the only one who has any reason to sing it.â
âYou mean, other than everyone else in the drama club?â asked Sam, bored. Â
âOr anyone who likes Disney?â said Tucker. Â
Wes opened his mouth to make some kind of riposte.
The warning bell rang. Â
He closed his mouth. Â âIâm watching you, Fenton!â
âYou and everyone else,â muttered Danny as Wes retreated down the hallway, pointing at him. Â
Why was everyone around him so ridiculous?

âWeâre doing Snow White, not Beauty and the Beast!â howled Razor, baring his teeth at the hapless Phan Club member that had suggested adding âTale as Old as Timeâ to the song list.
âIf you guys had taken that bet, Iâd have so much money right now,â said Tucker. Â
âStudents, please,â said Mr. Lancer. Â âWe canât have any actual copyrighted music in our play. Not without paying for it. Â And Iâm not negotiating with Disney.â Â He looked into the distance. Â âNot again. Â Never again.â
Danny did not want to know the story behind that, but nevertheless, he had to ask⊠âAre you okay, Mr. Lancer?â
âIâm fine, Mr. Fenton,â said Mr. Lancer. Â âThank you for asking. Â In any case, my lovely drama students! Â Today, we are going to do our first round of auditions!â
âBut, sir, we havenât finished the script, yet!â protested Mikey.
âRight you are!â said Mr. Lancer.  âBut I have found that things go more smoothly when we have people already in the main roles.  Thereâs less⊠outright sabotage and script jockeying.â
âWhat does that even mean?â whispered Samhain (aka Kevin) loudly. Â
âPeople trying to change the script to fit a certain person so that person gets the role,â said Paulina. Â âOr exclude a certain person. Â Which I would never do, Mr. Lancer.â
The covetous glare shot in Dannyâs direction indicated that Paulinaâs words might have been less than truthful. Â
Mr. Lancer chuckled. Â âI didnât think you would, Miss Sanchez!â Â He began writing on his whiteboard. Â âNow, we already have our Prince Snow White, our Princess Charming, and our Evil Queen.â Â He nodded at Paulina as he wrote the roles on the board. Â âNow, we need our seven dwarvesââ
âGhosts!â
âExcuse me, yes, ghosts. Â Thank you, Mr. Baxter. Â Our Huntsmanââ
âOr woman!â
âYes, thank you, Miss Thunder,â said Mr. Lancer. âHuntsman, or Huntswoman.  And⊠Letâs see⊠ Snow Whiteâs parents, for the prologue, Princess Charmingâs retinue, and⊠I think thatâs it.  Alright, letâs start with the ghosts.â
âShouldnât they have names?â asked Mia. Â
âWell, sure,â said Mr. Lancer. Â âBut we canât use the Disney names. Â Youâll have to come up with your own.â
âPhantom!â screamed Paulina.
âHere we go,â said Danny, burying his head in his hands. Â
âYou want to bet that weâre going to wind up with your whole rogueâs gallery?â asked Tucker. Â
âIf you need money, Tucker,â said Sam, âyou just have to ask. Â Rates on my loans are very reasonable.â
âIsnât usury against your religion?â asked Tucker.
âNope,â said Sam. Â âNot at all.â
âI am incredibly against this development,â said Danny. Â âThe cults are going to have a field day.â
âEmber! Â Ember! Ember!â Â Chanted the punk goth crowd, which had split off from the larger goth subgroup.
âI am somehow even more against this development,â muttered Danny. Â âMr. Lancer! I donât think itâs a good idea to include a ghost who gets power from people saying her name!â
âShut up, Fentonnage, what do you know about ghosts?â
âMy parents study them. Â I know a lot. Â More than I ever evenââ
Danny narrowly dodged the workbook Dash flung at him.
âMr. Baxter!â scolded Mr. Lancer. Â
Sadly, when everything shook out, Danny did not get his way. Â One of the seven ghosts was named Ember and was going to be played by Star. Â Because why not?
âAt least the Box Ghost and the Lunch Lady arenât on the list,â said Sam. Â
âBut âHamlet, father of Hamlet,â is,â said Danny. Â âWhy does that bother me more than Ember?â
âBecause you hate Shakespeare?â
âNo, I donât,â protested Danny. Â âShakespeare is a perfectly nice person. Â I just donât like how his writing is taught in schools.â
âYouâre going to break Mr. Lancerâs heart saying stuff like that,â said Tucker. Â
âHe wrote love poems to boys. Â Why do they skim over that?â
âExcellent point, Mr. Fenton!â exclaimed Mr. Lancer, who had somehow materialized behind them. Â âShakespeare was definitely bisexual. Â I wiââ Â The teacher stopped. Â âNope, canât use that word. Â It would be nice if the state let me teach it like that. Â Along with the crossdressing. Â School board wonât let me.â Â He shook his head. Â âDale Baxter. Someday, someday heâll lose an election. Eventually.â Â He took a deep breath. Â âNext time we meet, weâll be doing auditions, okay? Â I want you all to think about what parts you would like! And, Miss Gray, Iâd like to have a word with you about your role in our production, alright?â

do u have any music-related headcanons for lizzington? like yes their tastes but also,, their talents? instruments of the past present or future, perfect pitch, an ear for certain things, anything? love to hear your thoughts :)
Ohhhhh anon đ„°đ„°đ„° I don't think I've ever been asked this before (despite what I do for a living lol) & I am ever so grateful to you for asking me about my favorite thing in the entire world... Lizzington-ified LOL đ¶ (I'm also so flattered that you'd love to hear my thoughts on this at all, you are so very sweet â€ïżœïżœ) This also brings to mind my idea for part 5 of Facets, but I'm not quite ready to reveal details on that yet đ I shall list some musical headcanons below...
Red's favorite genre of music is jazz but he also loves the classics of his time like Billy Joel & The Beatles. He also enjoys classical concerts bc he can appreciate anything done with skill. He prefers to listen to his music via record player bc he feels it sounds the best. (This is mostly about James lmfao)
Liz loves the same classics that Red does - bc Sam raised her on them - but she also likes to listen to fun pop music on the radio & she occasionally enjoys some club music from her more wild college days.
Red learned piano & how to read music when he was young & was quite good at both. It's something he still enjoys doing when he has the opportunity & time. However, the pleasure is a bit tainted for him, since he used to play piano with Jennifer & play to help her practice her ballet routines.
Liz never learned an instrument - she was more interested in sports - but she was in choir for a few years & has a good singing voice. She has a little speaker in the shower that she also enjoys singing along to when she can take her time - & Red enjoys listening as well & sometimes he joins her for a duet.
Red has near perfect pitch, something that was evident in his childhood piano lessons. He can identify a note played on the piano without looking & can play songs by ear after hearing them once or twice. It's a talent he hardly ever uses but Liz finds fascinating.
Liz doesn't have perfect pitch but she can pretty easily parrot back a melody she hears, thanks to her early choir training. She's mostly good at detecting subtle pitch & tempo changes in people's speech patterns, something that developed from her intuitive nature & psychological training that helps her tell if someone is lying.
Bonus: Red & Liz also both love dancing to music, no matter what style or genre (although the tango both vertical & horizontal tee hee is a particular favorite of theirs) as long as they're having fun together & can hold each other đ„Č

â he's really great at poetry and creative/descriptive writing though and writes about you and generally the way you make him feel
â once compared you to grass though đ but it turned out kinda nice because it was a metaphor for how even when people hurt you you always come back and you keep him (the dirt) from being washed away and stuff đ„ș
â he has a good singing voice. I think he'd be a tenor, and his voice is good for jazz he can also play the piano really well (it's those long setter fingers đ©)
â he loves flowers and either has little potted ones around place or a small garden outside. you've caught him talking to the plants about you. all good things, of course. I think his favorites would be lillies (the white ones I think) but idk much about flowers
â he likes to get you jewelery (bruh how do you spell that???), especially engraved jewelery. sometimes it's got random dates on it and you have to ask him what happened that day, and he'll start telling you about something you thought was small but meant a lot to him that happened that day. usually it's a day when you two had a date and he felt it should be remembered.
â he really likes musicals. not as in he's a theatre kid (though he could be) but more like he loves the stories and how they're told through song and dance.
â he annotates his books. sometimes you'll borrow one from him to read and find he's underlined and written about things that made him think of you đ
â he's very romantic but he doesn't necessarily try to be. he's also naturally very aesthetic.
â he can tap dance. I've literally been in tap dancer akaashi brainrot since I listened to "King of new york" from newsies đđ and he's so HOT when he tap dances, he's really good at it but he hasn't practiced/done lessons in forever, so he's a little rusty. but he used to do competitions and stuff and was extremely good at the dance.
â I feel like although he doesn't really seem like one to do so, he uses reaction memes in texts somewhat often. not just the affectionate ones, but also the "đ" or aggressive ones (very hot of him to use reaction memes đ)
â he collects mugs! he drinks coffee in the morning so he needed some mugs at first, but then he started getting one wherever he traveled to as a souvenir (and he doesn't travel too often, whether it's for vacation or business it's usually around every other year or something) and now he has a whole cupboard of mugs
â he also likes tea. and while i feel like he prefers his coffee somewhat bitter, he usually adds milk to his tea. I think he's also a big fan of boba tea, and his favorite (mine too) is milk tea (made with black tea) with brown sugar and boba
â his dream home is an industrial apartment (is that what it's called?) with a balcony or patio. he likes the city since he's from tokyo... I think. he'd love to live somewhere where the skies are clear and he can see the stars, but he's gotta live near the city for work đ„Č though some stars are visible, at least, from that patio
â he likes to wear rings. even though he's lowkey insecure about his fingers and rings would draw more attention to them, he likes to fidget with the accessories
â he's really good at braiding hair. he hasn't really practiced, he's just a natural. first time he braided your hair it looked really good and both of you were kinda shocked. he's pretty good at hair things in general, actually.

Today we remember the passing of Nina Simone who Died: April 21, 2003 in Carry-le-Rouet, France
Eunice Kathleen Waymon (February 21, 1933 â April 21, 2003), known professionally as Nina Simone, was an American singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, and civil rights activist. Her music spanned a broad range of musical styles including classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop.
The sixth of eight children born to a poor family in Tryon, North Carolina, Simone initially aspired to be a concert pianist. With the help of a few supporters in her hometown, she enrolled in the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. She then applied for a scholarship to study at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she was denied admission despite a well-received audition, which she attributed to racial discrimination. In 2003, just days before her death, the Institute awarded her an honorary degree.
To make a living, Simone started playing piano at a nightclub in Atlantic City. She changed her name to "Nina Simone" to disguise herself from family members, having chosen to play "the devil's music" or so-called "cocktail piano". She was told in the nightclub that she would have to sing to her own accompaniment, which effectively launched her career as a jazz vocalist. She went on to record more than 40 albums between 1958 and 1974, making her debut with Little Girl Blue. She had a hit single in the United States in 1958 with "I Loves You, Porgy". Her musical style fused gospel and pop with classical music, in particular Johann Sebastian Bach, and accompanied expressive, jazz-like singing in her contralto voice.
The sixth of eight children in a poor family, she began playing piano at the age of three or four; the first song she learned was "God Be With You, Till We Meet Again". Demonstrating a talent with the piano, she performed at her local church. Her concert debut, a classical recital, was given when she was 12. Simone later said that during this performance, her parents, who had taken seats in the front row, were forced to move to the back of the hall to make way for white people. She said that she refused to play until her parents were moved back to the front, and that the incident contributed to her later involvement in the civil rights movement. Simone's mother, Mary Kate Waymon (nĂ©e Irvin, November 20, 1901 â April 30, 2001), was a Methodist minister and a housemaid. Her father, Rev. John Devan Waymon (June 24, 1898 â October 23, 1972), was a handyman who at one time owned a dry-cleaning business, but also suffered bouts of ill health. Simone's music teacher helped establish a special fund to pay for her education. Subsequently, a local fund was set up to assist her continued education. With the help of this scholarship money, she was able to attend Allen High School for Girls in Asheville, North Carolina.
In order to fund her private lessons, Simone performed at the Midtown Bar & Grill on Pacific Avenue in Atlantic City, New Jersey, whose owner insisted that she sing as well as play the piano, which increased her income to $90 a week. In 1954, she adopted the stage name "Nina Simone". "Nina", derived from niña, was a nickname given to her by a boyfriend named Chico, and "Simone" was taken from the French actress Simone Signoret, whom she had seen in the 1952 movie Casque d'Or. Knowing her mother would not approve of playing "the Devil's music", she used her new stage name to remain undetected. Simone's mixture of jazz, blues, and classical music in her performances at the bar earned her a small but loyal fan base.
After the success of Little Girl Blue, Simone signed a contract with Colpix Records and recorded a multitude of studio and live albums. Colpix relinquished all creative control to her, including the choice of material that would be recorded, in exchange for her signing the contract with them. After the release of her live album Nina Simone at Town Hall, Simone became a favorite performer in Greenwich Village. By this time, Simone performed pop music only to make money to continue her classical music studies, and was indifferent about having a recording contract. She kept this attitude toward the record industry for most of her career.
Simone married a New York police detective, Andrew Stroud, in December, 1961. In few years he became her manager and the father of her daughter Lisa, but later he abused Simone psychologically and physically.
In 1964, Simone changed record distributors from Colpix, an American company, to the Dutch Philips Records, which meant a change in the content of her recordings. She had always included songs in her repertoire that drew on her African-American heritage, such as "Brown Baby" by Oscar Brown and "Zungo" by Michael Olatunji on her album Nina at the Village Gate in 1962. On her debut album for Philips, Nina Simone in Concert (1964), for the first time she addressed racial inequality in the United States in the song "Mississippi Goddam". This was her response to the June 12, 1963, murder of Medgar Evers and the September 15, 1963, bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, that killed four young black girls and partly blinded a fifth. She said that the song was "like throwing ten bullets back at them", becoming one of many other protest songs written by Simone. The song was released as a single, and it was boycotted in some southern states. Â Promotional copies were smashed by a Carolina radio station and returned to Philips. She later recalled how "Mississippi Goddam" was her "first civil rights song" and that the song came to her "in a rush of fury, hatred and determination". The song challenged the belief that race relations could change gradually and called for more immediate developments: "me and my people are just about due". It was a key moment in her path to Civil Rights activism. "Old Jim Crow", on the same album, addressed the Jim Crow laws. After "Mississippi Goddam", a civil rights message was the norm in Simone's recordings and became part of her concerts. As her political activism rose, the rate of release of her music slowed.
Simone performed and spoke at civil rights meetings, such as at the Selma to Montgomery marches. Like Malcolm X, her neighbor in Mount Vernon, New York, she supported black nationalism and advocated violent revolution rather than Martin Luther King Jr.'s non-violent approach. She hoped that African Americans could use armed combat to form a separate state, though she wrote in her autobiography that she and her family regarded all races as equal.
In 1967, Simone moved from Philips to RCA Victor. She sang "Backlash Blues" written by her friend, Harlem Renaissance leader Langston Hughes, on her first RCA album, Nina Simone Sings the Blues (1967). On Silk & Soul (1967), she recorded Billy Taylor's "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free" and "Turning Point". The album 'Nuff Said! (1968) contained live recordings from the Westbury Music Fair of April 7, 1968, three days after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. She dedicated the performance to him and sang "Why? (The King of Love Is Dead)", a song written by her bass player, Gene Taylor. In 1969, she performed at the Harlem Cultural Festival in Harlem's Mount Morris Park.
Simone and Weldon Irvine turned the unfinished play To Be Young, Gifted and Black by Lorraine Hansberry into a civil rights song of the same name. She credited her friend Hansberry with cultivating her social and political consciousness. She performed the song live on the album Black Gold (1970). A studio recording was released as a single, and renditions of the song have been recorded by Aretha Franklin (on her 1972 album Young, Gifted and Black) and Donny Hathaway. When reflecting on this period, she wrote in her autobiography, "I felt more alive then than I feel now because I was needed, and I could sing something to help my people".
In an interview for Jet magazine, Simone stated that her controversial song "Mississippi Goddam" harmed her career. She claimed that the music industry punished her by boycotting her records. Hurt and disappointed, Simone left the US in September 1970, flying to Barbados and expecting her husband and manager (Andrew Stroud) to communicate with her when she had to perform again. However, Stroud interpreted Simone's sudden disappearance, and the fact that she had left behind her wedding ring, as an indication of her desire for a divorce. As her manager, Stroud was in charge of Simone's income.
In 1993, she settled near Aix-en-Provence in southern France (Bouches-du-RhĂŽne). In the same year, her final album, A Single Woman, was released. She variously contended that she married or had a love affair with a Tunisian around this time, but that their relationship ended because, "His family didn't want him to move to France, and France didn't want him because he's a North African." During a 1998 performance in Newark, she announced, "If you're going to come see me again, you've got to come to France, because I am not coming back." She suffered from breast cancer for several years before she died in her sleep at her home in Carry-le-Rouet (Bouches-du-RhĂŽne), on April 21, 2003. Her funeral service was attended by singers Miriam Makeba and Patti LaBelle, poet Sonia Sanchez, actors Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, and hundreds of others. Simone's ashes were scattered in several African countries. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Celeste Stroud, an actress and singer, who took the stage name Simone, and who has appeared on Broadway in Aida.

So many people have wondered what Alastorâs human life couldâve been like. There have been fan art, stories and several animations of Alastor when he was a radio host and serial killer. But surely there could be more clues as to what also occurred.
In fact there are, and they could very well be right in front of your eyesâŠor should I say, your ears.

 AlBirdVampPrince on YouTube thankfully provided it before it was lost to the web. When I listened to the cheery old time jazz intermingled with the catchy beats, I was instantly teleported into another time. For several moments, I was immersed in Alastorâs world, watching him dance with flapper ladies, exploring the woods, playing a variety of instruments, and yes, his radio show and murders as well. I couldnât help but grin from ear to ear listening to the songs.
 These songs shed a brand new light on a beloved popular character in Hazbin Hotel. Music is a central theme for the show and the personalities of the characters. Just look at Charlie and Alastor. Sometimes, all it takes is music and a song to delve into a characterâs head.

  1    âAnnie: Youâre Never Fully Dressed Without A Smileâ
 Ah yes, the all-too familiar song from the classic Annie musical in 1982. The song is by Peter Marshall. The song was played during the Iodent toothpaste commercial scene. Mr. Warbucks goes on the radio and offers 50,000 dollars to anyone who claimed to be Annieâs parents. The orphan girls later sing it as they listen to the radio. The meaning of the song: no matter how you dress or what social class you come from, happiness is what makes people stand out. The song has been used in many remakes of Annie such as the 1999 and 2014 versions.
 This song would be Alastorâs favorite. He even quoted it in the show, saying to Vaggie, âSmile my dear! You know youâre never fully dressed without one!â It is evident that Vivziepop enjoys Annie and many other musicals, hence all the references in the show and her art.
 Ever since then, lyrics and music have been used in dozens of fan art and projects. Gabriel C. Brown, the singing voice of Alastor, even did a cover of the song on YouTube. Often times, the lyrics are displayed whenever Alastorâs mother is drawn. A popular theory suggests that Alastorâs mother told him that he was never fully dressed without a smile, as a way of cheering him up during tough times.
  In Kathy Prior 42âs Human Alastor backstory, this song would be played as the intro song as fans immediately associate this song with Alastor. Alastor plays this song after every broadcast, the song that keeps him going every day. It would also appear in the ending credits. Alastorâs Creole mother Antoinette Moreau encourages a young Alastor to smile and stand tall when she sings this to him. For Alastor, itâs not just a fun songâŠitâs something that helps remind him of his mother and what his purpose is.

 Here we have another song about smiling, but this one has a different tone than the previous one. This song was originally sung by Nat King Cole, charted in 1954, composed by Charlie Chaplin. âSmileâ was used as a soundtrack in the 1936 movie âModern Times.â
 Lyrics of this song are shown on old Alastor Zoophobia art by Vivziepop. The art shows an old version of Alastor wearing a black suit doing a magic trick and singing the first few lines of the song.
 In Kathy Prior 42âs Human Alastor backstory, Alastorâs mother sings this song to him after he deals with both bullying from his classmates and the constant abuse from his father. It is a song to remind him that smiling is a sign of strength to get through the hard times. Alastor is stunned to find that his mother smiles through the hits and bruises that his father gives her. Even daily discrimination at work doesnât stop her from doing it. Alastor takes this lesson to heart and makes it into a life-long habit...even after death. Though he smiles all the time, the burden of hiding his feelings inside is only evident to him. In addition, Alastor sings a lament of this song after his motherâs death via the Spanish Flu and Mimzyâs accidental death by poisoning.       3 âLetâs Misbehaveâ
 Anyone else notice the title on one of the Hazbin Hotel thumbnails of Alastor in static? Yes, it is an actual song. The song was written by Cole Porter in 1927. It was a 1928 hit for Irving Aaronson and his Commanders and has been used in several films.
 In âSmiling Manâ by MuseValentine, a human Alastor says âLetâs misbehaveâ to a human Charlie before they make love behind Luciferâs back.
 In Kathy Prior 42âs Alastor Human backstory, Alastor was born in 1896, thus in 1928, he is in his early thirties. Alastor and Mimzy get into trouble, they cuddle in a hotel room and almost have sex. Alastor holds back because he doesnât want to get intimate with anyone, much to her disbelief and sadness. This was before her death. Alastor berates himself for being so careless and begins to question his own sexuality, (which is perceived as abnormal by society and everyone else).

   4 âYou Rascal Youâ
 This song was sung by Cab Calloway in 1931, published in 1929. The lyrics take the form of threats leveled against a man who runs off with the singerâs wife, after the singer was kind to him.
 Alastorâs Human backstory has a couple scenes for this song. The first scene is when Alastor finds out that his father had been sleeping with other women behind his motherâs back. Alastor had tried to reason with his father, but he eventually snapped. Alastor has angry thoughts about killing his father, which he eventually does.
 The second scene is less prominent. Although Alastor was not in love with Mimzy, he got possessive when other men tried to flirt with her. One racist horny man goes off with Mimzy leaving Alastor by himself. His good friend had been taken from him, after Alastor had been kind to both of them. So what does he do? Hunts down the man and kills him, of course.

 This song was made in 1923 by Richard M. Jones. King Oliver and his Creole Jazz band recorded it in 1923âŠit was likely one of the many songs that Alastor heard and enjoyed. One of the songs that inspired him to be a jazz band leader.
  6 âThe Charlestonâ
 Ah the Charleston, the popular dance style from the 1920s. The dance used in so many fanfictions and art with Alastor and Charlie in it. And the inspiration for the âCharlastorâ shipping name for Alastor and Charlie in the fandom. âThe Charlestonâ was by James P. Johnson and it was in the 1923 Broadway show Runninâ Wild. A melody of it was made by Arthur Gibbs.
 In Alastorâs human backstory, Alastor dances the Charleston with Mimzy in 1923 during the Roaring 20s at the peak of his life and career. He later dances with Charlie at the Hazbin Hotel in Hell.

 In Alastorâs human backstory, this song that Alastor sings describes the fun care-free moments that Alastor had in his youth. The events included feeding alligators in the bayou, exploring the woods, seeing animals and being outside.
 The second scene with this song is in 1922 when Alastor gets tired of Mimzy being clingy. Alastor doesnât love anyone in a romantic wayâŠhe had lost the one person he loved many years ago. Due to past trauma, he puts on a persona but doesnât trust people enough to let them in fully into his life. Not wanting to meet her expectations of being a perfect man, Alastor longs to be himself and be free again. Alastor and Mimzy try to reconcile at a bar, only for her to die later on. Alastor kills people to vent his frustrations. The song is a reflection of Alastor becoming a villain.

 Yes. Vivziepop adores My Chemical Romance. It is obvious from the many MCR songs that she provides to her characters. (âSingâ for Charlie, âNa Na Naâ for Cherri Bomb, âMamaâ for Angel Dust, etc.) This one called âBloodâ undeniably relates to Alastorâs murder and cannibalism activities. (Letâs face it, Vivzie loves musicals so much, Hazbin Hotel is one giant musical, with nearly every character knowing how to sing and play a variety of instruments! Hazbin Logic.)

 This is one of many songs that Alastor sings in his backstory. This song plays when Alastor loses himself in the blissful moments playing trumpets, saxophones and singing onstage. Music and jazz helped Alastor out during hard times of discrimination and him witnessing police brutality against African Americans and disadvantaged individuals. In music, Alastor felt safe, confident, invincible.

 The song comes from a 1959 courtroom drama film by Duke Ellington. This song gives off a âsneaky, spyâ like vibe, a tension of âwho done it,â in the music. This track would play during the mention of the mysterious âLouisiana Lunaticâ in the newspapers, plus Alastorâs broadcasts of all the deaths he caused.
 13 âGod Moves On The Waterâ
 This song is by Billie Willie Johnson in 1929. This song describes the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 (the year of Baxterâs death). It was an event that Alastor wasnât involved in, but presumably found entertaining like the 1929 Stock Market Crash.
 This song could relate to the many hurricane disasters that went on in Alastorâs life in Louisiana but was lucky enough to survive in. The song could also reference the distress and helplessness that people of color, women and other minority groups felt in the clutches of a dominant white society.

  17 âThe Radio Demonâ
 An official soundtrack in the pilot episode. The circus music that turns dark with organs playing. It plays when Vaggie tells of how Alastor got into power. This song plays after Alastorâs death and during the ending credits in the backstory. It serves as a transition to Alastor arriving in Hell, the next act in the character arc.
